What this site knows about you

The short version: this site counts visits, never sells or shares data, and only receives what you type when you choose to send it through the contact form. The specifics follow.

What gets measured

Two analytics tools run here, counting pageviews, referring sites, device and browser type, approximate location, and whether the newsletter form was used. Neither receives the contents of anything you type.

Google Analytics runs in its consent-denied mode, which means it sets no analytics cookies in your browser and Google Signals and ad personalization are switched off. Google states that Analytics does not log or store IP addresses, and that EU, Swiss, and UK traffic is processed on servers in those regions.

Humblytics is cookieless. Per its documentation it stores nothing on your device and recognizes return visits within a single day using a one-way hash of your IP address and device characteristics, which resets every 24 hours. The raw IP address is discarded immediately.

What never gets collected

Any advertising identifier, and anything you type outside of the contact form. Newsletter analytics record that a form was submitted, never what was in it.

Your email

Subscribing hands you to Substack with your address pre-filled. The address goes to Substack directly, never through this site's servers, and Substack's own privacy policy governs it from there. Every issue includes an unsubscribe link that works in one click.

The contact form

Messages you send through the contact page pass through Vercel (which hosts this site), Cloudflare Turnstile (the spam check), and Resend (which delivers the email). The site keeps no database and stores nothing: your message becomes one email and is used only to reply to you. Contact contents are never sent to analytics and never added to the newsletter.

Your choices

Standard tracker blockers and browser privacy settings work as expected here, and the site stays fully readable with them switched on. The one exception is the contact form, which needs the Turnstile spam check to load before it can send. If it is blocked, everything else still works.
